Lignators terms, conditions, disclaimer and privacy statement. In other words… all the official stuff.

Use of our services constitutes acceptance of our Terms and Conditions:

Lignator Guitars are made by the three luthiers at Rikkers Guitars in Groningen, The Netherlands. Unless you buy or order an instrument through 1 of our dealers you, the customer and we. the makers have a direct relationship with no-one in between.

Talking with us about your wishes and needs for a custom-made instrument is cost-free for you, and we will not charge costs for making you an offer. This offer comes without any obligation for you. After you accept the offer this document is binding for us in the sense that we will not change the price of the instrument to be, unless you request a major change after we have started building. In that case we will make you a quote for the extra work. For you the offer is binding only after you have paid your deposit.

To finalize a custom order for both parties we require a 50% non-refundable deposit before we start building. Paying a deposit makes the offer binding for you as the customer. The remaining amount (plus shipping, etc. where applicable) is due before shipping or collecting.

All our prices are listed excluding national taxes or other government decisions. For customers from EU-countries: unless you are a retailer or professional musician with a valid VAT ID number we are obliged to charge the Dutch VAT of 21%. If you have a VAT ID number please provide it to us at the time of ordering. For orders from outside the EU: you are responsible for all duties, custom charges and other applicable fees. If the instrument is shipped using an official carrier we do not have to charge the Dutch VAT, but you will be charged the applicable duties and custom fees by the carrier. If the instrument is picked up in person we have to charge VAT, but we can provide the paperwork required to have it refunded.

We give great care to the looks and content of our website & Social Media and do our best to keep everything up-to-date and error free. This means you can count on the prices listed for our instruments and repairs. On the other hand we always reserve the right to adjust our pricing in individual cases, as is explained in the price list for repairs, and price changes are reserved at all times.

We accept cash, wire transfers and PayPal payments. If you pickup the instrument in person you can use a debit card with our PIN pad in the workshop. For wire transfers we will provide the IBAN you need to use. Items will be shipped only after full payment of the instrument. Repairs are mostly paid after we are done with our work. You can’t collect your instrument however without the invoice paid in full.

If you have ordered a ready-made instrument you have a period of 14 business days to return the instrument should you not find it to your liking. In this (unlikely) case you have to notify us in writing (by email) and return the instrument at your own cost. Any payments made will be refunded after costs or damages incurred have been deducted, and that includes shipping cost.

For custom orders: Due to the unique nature of our instruments, once we have started to build an instrument to your specifications it will be very difficult if not impossible to resell it. Therefore all custom orders are final and there is no refund once we have started building. Please keep that in mind before deciding to place the order. In the most simple terms: when you’ve sent us money for a deposit on a custom order, consider your order binding.

For Repairs: You will receive a repair-notice with a quoted price via email. Once we have started working on your instrument you can’t cancel the repair anymore.
